Well, this is a first! Not me blogging, but me writing a blog for all of you lovely people!
You have probably found us through our spangly new web site, or maybe even through social media (if I’ve remembered to tag this!). But however you happen to be here, welcome to the first ever St Peter’s blog post!
Since arriving at St Peter’s 3 years ago, I’ve been working hard with some fantastic people to try and get to know as many of you as I can and to make the church as accessible to you all as possible. It seems to be working and it has been great to meet so many of you through various church groups, community groups or even in services themselves.
I’m hoping this blog will be another way of keeping in touch with you all, and will help you feel connected with your local Vicar. You’ll probably be pleased to hear that it won’t always be me blogging but other members of the church and community as well!
I’m hoping the blog posts will be varied and give you an insight into what is going on here in church, how we are supporting the local community, as well as demystifying a little what goes on here in the ‘religious’ bits.
There is a lot going on that you may not know about so do have a meander around the website and get in touch if you want more information about anything.
A couple of months ago we started a new group called ‘St Peter’s in the Pub’ (my favourite part of the month!) It's a wonderful informal time where people meet for a drink and a chat and no question is off limits. I’m hoping this blog space will be a bit like that too - so seriously, ask away!
If there are topics that you’d like me to write about then do send me a message and I’ll do my best to blog or vlog about them (hope I get some credit for being prepared to vlog!) Otherwise, sit back, check back regularly, and enjoy reading whatever appears.
Please remember that we are here for everyone in and around Filton. You don’t need to come to church to receive support, friendship or care from myself or anyone in the wonderful team at St Peter’s. As our banner says on the front of the church - we are here ‘Serving God, by serving you, your family and the community’. However we can help you, whatever we can do, just let us know.
Hope to see you back here or in person sometime soon!
Prayers and blessings,
